Editing blog for music video

Today we started editing our footage for our music video. I was excited to see the results of all of our footage come together to create our final music video. After we finished filming all of our footage, we all decided to go to one of my group member's house to start editing. Once we all arrived at the house, we went upstairs and got to work immediately. When we started editing, we imported all the footage onto the computer oh yeah that we decided to edit with. Once we imported our footage, we uploaded it to iMovie. When it was uploaded, all of the footage was in the incorrect order that we wanted. Because of this, we decided to rearrange the footage before we started editing to make the editing process much easier. We finally organized our footage to start cropping and reducing the time of your footage. We had to do this because our time limit of all of our footage went passed the maximum time that our music video could be.
After cropping some of our footage, we decided to add in our song. This allowed us to match certain beats with scenes in the footage. This creates very smooth transitions between many shots. Transitions were added to our video during the editing process as well. When we added the music with transitions, our footage was still longer than the maximum time limit. Because of this, we had to crop our clips again to get the time under the maximum time limit. When we finally got under the maximum time limit, we were so happy that we finally succeeded. After this, we decided to add a special effect. The purpose of this is to create a more realistic effect when relating to a music video. This will also express creativity and shows the style of my group members and I.
Once we finished cutting our footage and adding transmissions, the special effect we included was a freeze-frame. This occurs at the end of our music video with all of us jumping in the air. After the freeze frame, the screen goes black and that where our music video ends. After including this, we had to go through our video and take out all original background noises and sounds of our voices out. This allows the audience to only hear the music and not unwanted sounds. If these were not edited out, the film would be very sloppy and unprofessional. Once we took out the original background sound, we decided to go back and watch the entire video. We didn't think that there would be any mistakes but there were. We noticed that some clips were too long and not relevant making the following scene choppy and not logical. After we edited some more of this footage, we watched our music video again and we believed that our job was done here as our music video was exactly how we wanted it.

Filming at the beach

I felt frustrated after we were not able to film the day we planned. I Was well prepared to film, but the weather got in the way. Fortunately, I used most of my time during the bad weather to become more prepared for when filmed. This would result in me being more prepared for the next time my group and I filmed. I joined a group call with my group members and we talked about the days it was possible for all of us to film. We talked about many different days then finally decided on the most convenient day for all of my group members, including myself. The day that we decided finally arrived and I was prepared and excited to film. I collected all of the crops and made sure that we had all of them in place. I also made sure that the camera was in a place that was safe and that the battery was fully charged. I made sure the tripod was in its bag and safely secured so that the tripod wouldn’t get stolen or damaged.
After lots of preparation, my group and I were prepared and ready to film. I arrived at the planned location which is known as the beach. My group and I got together and searched for the perfect background setting on the beach to film out music commercial. We started to film our first shot which was close to the water with a beautiful background. We were able to get many great shots of the actors performing in unison with our selected song. We played the music out loud while filming so when we start editing, the song would match perfectly to the actor's lips. The next scene we filmed was next to a lifeguard station. We asked permission from the lifeguard before we started to film around and on the lifeguard tower. After asking permission from the lifeguard, he told us that we were more than welcome to film on the tower but we just had to be careful. We filmed this shot around the lifeguard tower to signify the change in location from the previous shot which was around the ocean.
I made sure that we filmed each scene more than once just in case there was an error in our footage. The next scene that was filmed was by a pier. Filming by the pier exposed the natural beauty of the setting that we chose to film at. In the next scene, we tried to get some close-up shots of smooth and clear water. This shot is going to allow us to fulfill a deeper meaning to our music video. The next scene that was filmed was in and around a car. This scene showed the style of the actor singing and changed the mood of the music video as the “celebrity” was introduced. The last scene that was filmed was all of my group members including myself, in a beautiful setting which included the sun as it was setting. This scene was very important as it presented a very joyful and happy ending to our music video. It scene also included a very important message and the theme of the overall music video which allows the audience to interpret a better understanding and connection to the film.

Film Blog

My group and I just finished creating our storyboard. I am very excited to start filming our music video. After finishing our storyboard, my group and I decided we wanted to film the following weekend. After we decided on our plans, we talked about who will take the equipment. One of my group members walked up to the front to sign the equipment out. We checked out a camera and a tripod. My group and I made sure to put the filming equipment in the hands of a responsible individual within the group. We did this to avoid the equipment from being damaged or lost. We understood that if the equipment was damaged or lost, we could have to pay for what we would cause. As plans were made and our discussions were complete, we were prepared for the weekend to start filming our music video.
Once the weekend came around, we were all very excited. The evening before the weekend started, we were all in a group call. One of the group members had family plans last minute which was at the same time we scheduled to film. Because of this, we could not film over the weekend as planned. We decided that we are going to film over the one week break. This allows us to have better-structured plans with more organization. When we rescheduled our plans for filming, we made sure that all of us were free and no other plans would get in our way. In this process, we informed all of our parents and assured that no plans would get in the way of our filming plans. Once we developed a final plan for filming, I felt more organized because our plans were better structured the second time. First, we informed our parents to ensure that our plans wouldn’t be interrupted and then we planed the location and time.
Since my group and I were unable to film on the weekend we intended, I took this to my advantage. I decided to watch videos on camera features and basic knowledge about the camera I will be using just to refresh my memory before we start filming. I also watched videos on basic tripod knowledge and what I need to know before filming this music video. Watching these videos will make the filming process much faster and easier and I will be more prepared for when we start filming. When referring to my group, I decided to join a group call with my group members to discuss how we could improve our music video overall. We discussed cool ideas that we could create, using different angles and shots. During that same discussion, we talked about which props and costumes we could incorporate into our film. Deciding on the right props and costumes to use is crucial as they provide the mood and a more realistic effect on the film. Having logical props and costumes can create the difference between a realistic and well-structured film to an unrealistic and poorly structured film. Last but not least, during that call, I decided on which costume I was going to wear with the help of my group's advise as well as deciding on which props I will be providing for my group and myself.

Storyboard for music video

After finishing the commercial project, my group and I were eager to start on the music video. We brainstormed so many great ideas together that would make our music video creative and outstanding. We were so excited to begin putting all of our wonderful ideas together for this music video. After lots of thinking and planning we finally agreed what each scene would consist of and put it onto the storyboard paper. After we finished the storyboard we had to go back and determine what shots, camera angles, camera movements, costume, lighting, sounds, and editing techniques to use in each scene.
Firstly, we discussed the camera movements, angles, and shots we would use. We made sure to think of what would make the scene the best to ensure that each scene was as perfect as we had planned it would be. We chose to use high angles, long shots, close ups, two shots, and a point of view shot. The high angle would be used to show that someone has superiority or authority over someone in that scene. When using long shots in our scenes it will show a view of the person full body so that the audience can clearly see the full costume. Close ups will show just the actors face so that the audience can clearly make out what emotion that character is trying to show. The 2-shots will be used to show more than one actor and how they relate to the main message of the song which is meeting someone at a location. Lastly, we will use a point of view shot to show how the other actor will react to what the other actor is doing. For example, we will show how the man reacts in our music video to when the woman expresses her feelings towards him.
Secondly, we discussed costume, lighting, actors, makeup, props, and the setting. The costume throughout our music video will include very casual clothes like how any teenager would dress. The lighting of each scene will depend on what is being expressed in that specific scene. For example, in a scene where the character is heartbroken or is showing a flashback the lighting will be much darker to indicate sadness or a flashback. When the scene is happy or current time the lighting will be lighter and brighter to indicate happiness or current time. Some of the props we will use include sunglasses, hats, and beach equipment such as an umbrella and a surfboard. Lastly, the setting will take place on the beach. The beach makes a perfect setting for what the message in the song we chose portrays. We wanted to do the beach because it makes such a beautiful background and will contribute so much to our music video.
Thirdly, we discussed how we planned to edit all of our footage after we were done filming. We agreed on using cutaways, fade outs, fade ins, and flashbacks. We will use cutaways to show  the main actor and then cut to the scene when she sees her significant other with someone else. This is an important scene because it contributes to the main theme and message of the music video. Next, we will use a fade out to end out the music video. It will go from all the actors in the film and face out to a black screen to signify the end of the music video. After this we will use fade in towards the beginning of the film to signify the start of the film. It will fade in from a black screen into the actors in the first scene. Lastly, we will use flashbacks to show the actor in the past thinking about this man that she used to love. This helps the audience have a better understanding of who the main actor has been thinking of in all of the scenes.
The final thing we discussed was the sounds we would use throughout the music video. The first sounds we will use is dialogue. We will use dialogue to show the female and male actor communicating about their current location. Next, we will use diegetic sounds from the sounds of the waves or the wind. These sounds will allow the scene to seem more realistic and natural. After this we will use non-diegetic sounds which include the music we will add in and any sounds effects to add suspense or allow the audience to understand what it going on. Next we will use the score which is the actual song that we will edit in to the background. The score is specific to the song location in album that Khalid released. Lastly, we will use ambient sounds to allow the audience to interpret the hype of that scene. For example, we will increase the beat of the song to show the audience that the scene is more exciting or something is about to happen

Introduction blog for music video

Location: As a group we collectively decided that we would film our music video at the beach near where we live. The beach makes a perfect scenery for the background with the sand and waves crashing in the background. Not only is the scenery beautiful but the waves, wind, and dialogue from people nearby create great diegetic sounds that can be used in the background of our music video. We chose the beach as our location because of how fun and cool the vibe always is. Everyone at the beach is always having fun or enjoying themselves and we wanted our music video to be fun and exciting for us and the audience. The beach always has such an amazing vibe and we wanted to ensure that we included this throughout our music video.
Health and Safety: Our health and safety along with the people around us is so tremendously important. We want to ensure that the environment we are filming in is very safe for everyone. We will be very cautious and will take some protective steps ahead of time to ensure that everything is safe and goes as planned. Firstly, while filming at the beach we will ask any lifeguards or workers on the beach if it is okay and safe to film in a particular location. We would not want to cause any danger to anyone around us, safety is extremely important to us. Secondly, we will also make sure to film on a public beach so that we are not trespassing on anyone’s private property. Finally, if we plan to go in the water for any reason we will have life vests with us and we will alert the life guards because our health and safety is our number one priority.
Props: Props are an essential part of any music video. They allow the scenes to come to life and reach the full potential that they can. Props also allow the audience to better interpret what is going on in that scene that the director wants them to understand. Some props that we will use include any type of beach equipment such as chairs, umbrellas, and surfboards and also sunglasses, hats, sweatshirts, and and cell phones. We will also used some advanced technology along with our camera, such as a drone and a GoPro. These props will allow us to make each and every scene look so realistic and really come to life for ourselves and the audience.
Costumes: Costumes are also very important to a film. They allow the audience to understand who the person is and what they might be feeling in that scene and throughout the music video. Costumes represent who that person is and what the directors of the music video portray that person to be. The costume in our music video is very casual and how a teenager would usually dress. The costume is nothing fancy, it’s very relaxing and chill clothing. The costume represents that persons interests and how they feel.

Research to the new project

Throughout most of this school year, we have been working on our Gatorade commercial. We recently just finished our commercial last class. Since we just finished our commercial, we are starting our new project which I am incredibly excited for. We are creating an amazing music video of our choice. Music videos are a great way to express feelings, moods, and messages incorporated in the lyrics and the actual music. This music video will be created and directed by my group members and I. My group and I have to choose a song that is appropriate and interesting.
The day before class, we had to pick our song so when we got in class, we would be ready to work. In result of this, my group and I all talked the night before and decided on the song we want to use. We picked the song ”Location” by Khalid. We decided on Location  because we can relate to the lyrics and the mood of the song. We also all love the song because it gives off a cool vibe. Location provides a deep and interesting message, making it easier to film and act alongside the music. My group members and I also love the genre of music that Khalid produces.
The genre of the song Location is contemporary R&B. Contemporary R&B combines rhythm, Pop, soul, hip-hop and electronica music. This is evident because of the use of instruments in the song. This includes bass and beats, and lots of keyboard. Khalid normally wears casual comfy clothes and his music videos. He does this so that his audience can relate to his songs and music videos. So instead of him wearing an outrageous bright outfit that no one wears on a regular day, he wears outfits, that any normal person would wear. In a lot of Khalids music videos the lighting is very dim which gives off a relaxing mood. Even if he is outside, they edit the lighting to make it look more dim to give off that relaxing vibe. When it comes to actors Khalid is normally the only person in the music video, and if he isn’t he is alongside a woman. The actors usually go along with the storyline, and play a big role in the message of the video. For make up, Khalid’s face normally is bland and has a little to no products. This is again to give across the relatable message, especially to most male listeners. For props Khalid normally uses regular things that you can see and find in every day life. This includes cars or phones. The props normally add to the storyline as well. And lastly, The setting is always a cool and empty place. He is normally the only person there, and the place is not crowded. And Khalid does this because he wants the audience to see him and his emotion. Khalid normally uses standard camera movements and angles because us he wants his videos to be calm and not exaggerated to again give off that relatable feel. The sounds and editing is also mainly basic and neutral, because he doesn’t want to add exaggeration.

Editing The Commercial Part 2

After going through the frustration of trying to edit our blog last class, we finally found a solution. My teachers found extra laptops for the class to edit instead of the computers located in the classroom. My teachers were only capable to provide our class with thirteen laptops which weren’t enough for the whole class to work at once. Because of this situation, we had to take thirty-minute intervals. Half of the class would be provided with the thirteen computers and when the thirty minutes were up, the computers were given to the other half of the class so they could have time to edit. When the computers were given to the other half of the class, the group that already had time to edit got to work on their blogs. Even though not much time was given to edit, the class maintained productivity all period. Once my group and I had a laptop, we figured out what footage we wanted to include in our final commercial. We inserted the raw footage into pinnacle studios however it was a little slow and difficult to work with. We then decided to use I movie instead of pinnacle studios which fixed the problems that occurred.
After we decided we were going to edit our footage in iMovie, we had to save all of the footage to an iPhone. We had to wait so save all of the videos as it was a very large file. Once all the videos downloaded, we imported all of the raw footage into iMovie. When we first imported our footage, it was not in the order we preferred. Because of this, we rearranged the order of our footage to be in the order we wanted it to be. After we arranged our footage, we noticed that our video was way longer than the max time limit. Because of this, we cropped most of our videos to make the overall time around 30 seconds. After this, we searched for a video on the internet of the Gatorade logo for the ending of our commercial. We imported it to the very end of our footage. Once we imported it, we crop the video and other footage to make the commercial around 30 seconds again.
At this point, the editing process is almost done. There were only a couple of things that were missing which included music and transitions. The purpose of transitions is to make ur footage less choppy and more smooth. Music helps the audience connect to the mood and tone of the film. We included many transitions throughout our footage including fade-in, Fade-out, and jumping from a black screen. We also included a scene that maintained the slow-motion effect. When referring to background music, we imported very upbeat music and also very smooth and relaxing music. We also imported the sound of a heartbeat to show the result of adrenaline and fast exercise. The last sound we imported was the cheer of a crowd as it would sound like in a stadium. All of these sounds brought the whole theme and mood together to create a creative Gatorade commercial.

Editing The Commercial

Today I am starting to edit my groups footage. Before I started editing, I prepared my footage ahead of time. I made sure the footage was still on the computer from last class. I then went into the folder that was created by my group and I last class an made sure all the footage was present. Once that was completed, I started to watch each video that was recorded last class. My group and I started to discuss the footage that we would like to be in the completed commercial. When going through the footage, my group and I made sure to pick the clearest and best footage to fit our commercial. After we decided on our footage, I looked on the computer’s desktop to find the editing app. This app is known as Pinnacle Studios. Since this app was already on my desktop, my group and I did not have to download the app.
During the editing process, we completed many steps regarding our footage. Once we discovered Pinnacle Studios, we transferred our footage into the app. We then had to wait for our footage to load into Pinnacle Studios. As I waited patiently, I had to make sure everything was downloading smoothly. Once the footage completely downloaded into Pinnacle Studios, I double checked to make sure all of our footage was present. Once that was completed, there were random pieces of evidence that were not needed. My group and I decided to delete all of the random footage that we did not need for our commercial. Once we did that, I highlighted all of our footage to get ready to start the official editing. I dragged down the highlighted footage to the video track to start editing. Unfortunately, we had some technical difficulties before we started to edit our footage.
During our editing process, we had many issues. When we first downloaded the footage, we were unable to watch the footage. After a while, the footage finally started to play however, the footage wasn’t the best quality. The footage was very glitchy and the full video normally didn’t play. The footage was also very slow, as the footage was taken with normal speed and when downloaded to the computer, it looked like it was in slow motion. Our group worked very hard to resolve this problem however, this was an issue with the computer itself. After we hit this road block, had a good idea to download all of our footage to google drive. Once we did this, our footage was not glitchy or slow anymore and we were able to watch all of our footage again. My group and I were proud that we resolved our problem with our glitchy and slow footage. Next class, my group and I plan to come more prepared to work with our footage and we will hopefully be able to complete our official editing  process.

Filming Blog

My group and I just finished filming our footage for our Gatorade commercial. Before filming day, I went to the store and bought two bottles of Gatorade that were different colors. I also packed my soccer outfit with included black spandex, a black Adidas shirt, black soccer socks, and my clack cleats. I used many items when filming the commercial. These items included a Gatorade bottle, size 5 soccer ball, camera, tripod, soccer goal, and a spray bottle. Throughout this filming process, I learned special features of the camera and tripod. I had the opportunity to visualize how to properly use the SD card reader and camera. I also had the opportunity to physically hold the SD card, camera, and tripod for the first time this year and got to inspect all of these items. When looking through the camera's screen, I got to visualize how close or far, or how high or low you have to be when holding the camera to film specific shots that were required. These shots and angles included close-ups, long shots, medium-long shots, tilts, and tracking shots (we tried out best to keep the camera steady when filming this shot).
During the filming process, I used many props and items such as bottles of Gatorade, a soccer ball, a camera, a tripod, and a spray bottle. Each of these items was very helpful and played an important position for our footage. When referring to the bottles of Gatorade, there were many shots of me slowly drinking the energy drink with my eyes closed to interpret that it was very delicious and refreshing. My group also filmed me forcefully slamming the bottle of Gatorade on the bleachers to create a good ending or a transition for our commercial. The soccer ball was also used by me as my group members filmed me juggling and kicking the soccer ball into the goal. There were also a few shots of me holding the soccer under my arm. I used the camera to film a shot of track runners at a starting block as well as film some footage of an individual doing yoga in multiple positions. When referring to the tripod, my group and I connected the camera to it and used the tripod to film a steady shot of the track runners. The last prop or item I used during the filming process was a spray bottle. I used the spray bottle to spray my face and neck to show a sweating effect as if I was playing soccer for a long time and working hard. I also used the spray bottle to spray the bottles of Gatorade to make the drink look more appealing and refreshing.
Finally, I will explain my role in the filming process and the steps I took during my part. The first video that was recorded during my part was me juggling the soccer ball with my feet. My group members took a few shots so we could pick the best clip for our commercial. The second activity I completed during my part was dribbling the ball then shooting it into the net. My group members filmed this activity multiple times from different angles and heights. I also kicked the soccer ball in the net while one of my group members was recording from inside the net as well as protecting the camera from getting damaged. This footage may or may not be used to create a cool jump cut to another scene of our commercial. After my group members recorded me completing that activity, I was sprayed with the spray bottle on my face and neck to look sweaty to prepare for the next activity. After I was sprayed, I was recorded while I drank the Gatorade slowly holding the soccer ball under my arm as I made it obvious that I was enjoying the energy drink. My group took a couple more shots of me drinking the Gatorade from different angles to ensure that we will be happy with the result of our commercial and that we have backup footage just in case there was a mistake in the shots we took.

Storyboard

Today, our group did a storyboard for our Gatorade commercial. In each box we carefully planned out what we will do for each 5 second scene in our commercials. The first scene of our commercial contains 2 track athletes at the starting blocks preparing to take off. This scene will contain heavy breathing and heart beat sound effects (non-diegetic sounds). These sounds effects  and action shots will help to emphasize the importance of the scene. The second scene of our commercial will be a jump cut from the first scene into a girl playing soccer. She will be juggling the soccer ball or shooting into a goal to show that she is playing soccer. We will use long or medium shots to focus on her playing soccer through different camera angles. In our third scene it will be a cutaway from the girl playing soccer to a girl doing yoga. The music will change into a very peaceful sound to show the change in the scene from a more hardcore scene to a very soothing scene. In the fourth scene it is an action match of each of the athletes from the different scenes drinking Gatorade. This will show each subject and the main product of the commercial. In the fifth scene all athletes join together and fiercely slam the Gatorade bottles down for effect purposes. This will show effect of the Gatorade bottles that are emphasized throughout the commercial. The sixth and final scene will cut to a black screen with the Gatorade logo and a member doing a voiceover of one of the companies’ popular slogans.

Editing Lesson Blog

Today we went over the important steps and key information for editing and saving footage that is recorded. The editing information for my footage is essential to me because it will allow me to understand how to edit all future assignments that I will create. Knowing the basics of how to use the camera and tripod is very important as it can prevent damaged equipment. It will also be easier for students to work with the equipment and create films with less effort as it is easier to work with items that students are more familiar with. When relating to specifics, I learned all of the features of the camera, the tripod, and the editing process. I learned special features of the camera, including where to insert the SD card, how to turn the camera on and off, and the location of the charging outlet on the camera. When referring to the tripod, I mostly learned how to care for it and use it. For example, I learned how to connect the camera to the tripod, how to secure the camera and tripod for steady filming, how to extend the height of the tripod, and how to remove or tighten the camera so the tripod or camera does not break. Additionally, I learned everything about the editing process and the key steps I need to know. The process consists of how to import sounds and transitions and how to export your final product.
When referring to the editing process, there are very detailed steps and important things to be aware of. Most of your editing shall take place in Pinnacle Studios, which should be located on a provided pc or desktop. When transferring your raw footage onto your desktop, you must insert your SD card into the SD card reader in your computer. You should then create a folder on your desktop, transferring your footage from your SD card into that created folder. These actions are put together to be known as “dumping” your footage. When selecting the footage you want to edit, you must highlight that footage and drag it down to the bottom track. To insert a title or text into your footage, you will need to add information into a text box and add it to the upper track. To cut your footage, you must use the razor blade icon after selecting the segment of your footage you would want to cut out. Before you edit any of your footage, you must let your footage load completely into your track. Without letting your footage load completely, you will experience difficulties.
Another big portion of editing your footage is transitions and how you export your footage. Transitions are used to help make your footage more appealing to the audience. Transitions can indicate a change in the topic or a change in time within your footage. It is important to use a transition that matches the mood and theme of your footage. Your footage and transitions should connect in various ways, making the transitions not as noticeable. Using transitions helps the audience better understand different scenes at different time periods. When exporting your footage, minimize your footage and see if it was saved. When considering voiceover, detach the sound then delete the movie. You have to make sure to save your movie or film into your folder so your progress will be saved. Once all of these steps are done, you should have a unique and appealing film you have created from scratch to call your own.

Planning blog for Gatorade commercial

For our blog, today we are going to be planning out the details of our Gatorade commercial. This includes props, costumes, schedule, location, and our back-up plan. All of these will be very essential in creating a commercial that is entertaining and effective. Planning is a very important step in film making. This is because planning helps you write out step by step what your commercial will consist of and look like. Without planning the filming process becomes long and unorganized. Planning helps to save time and money and insures that filming will be successful no matter what.
Props are extremely essential to a commercial. They give the commercial livelihood and make it more entertaining and understandable for the audience. Throughout our commercial some of the props we will be using consist of : 4 Gatorade bottles (different colors), spray Gatorade bottles, regular spray bottle, 2 block starts, a soccer ball, and a yoga mat. All of these props will be incorporated into our commercial to make the commercial the best that we can. We will include the Gatorade bottle with different colors throughout each scene with a different sport being idolized. For example, for one scene we will focus on yoga using our yoga mat as a prop, we will play soccer for another scene using our soccer ball as a prop, and lastly we will show track using our starting blocks as a prop for that scene.
In this paragraph we will discuss another very important part of film known as costume. Costume plays a huge role in how the audience will interpret the scene. The costume allows the people watching to understand what you are trying to portray in that specific scene or the entire commercial in general. For example we will be using a school track and soccer uniform to allow the audience to understand that we are trying to show athletes playing soccer or running on the track. We will also be using athletic clothes as costumes to show the audience that the main focus of that scene is working out or doing something athletic. Going along with costume, another essential part of a scene is location. Location sets the entire basis of where you will be filming for each of your scenes. For our scenes we will be filming on the schools track field and the football field . This will set the scene that we are going to be playing sports or doing something dealing with physical education. This is a very important part of film because it allows the audience to know where you will be filming and gives them a better idea of the scene and film in general.
The schedule for our filming process will go as follows. Today we began planning for our commercial which included props, costumes, location etc. Then we are going to storyboard over the weekend so that we can start filming on Monday 10/14. On Monday we will start the filming process. We will shoot the scenes from the storyboard we drew up over the weekend. We will then change into costumes and go to our locations. Next we will continue to film on 10/16. We will shoot any scenes that we feel we should redo and shoot some scenes twice so that we can pick from the better out of the two. We will be filming outside for our whole commercial so if it rains we have a backup plan that will work and still cut across the same message. If it starts to rain then we will change locations from the track to the stairs and shoot two people running up and down the stairs. We would also change from the outdoor patio for yoga to a roofed hallway. Also, if someone from my group is absent then we plan to shoot everything the same but the activity that that person was supposed to do in that shot someone else will have to do. These plans will work when we are faced with any scenario.

Research conventions and codes

The product my group selected is the refreshing and revolutionary Gatorade. We selected this product because we thoroughly enjoy the drink and watching the entertaining Gatorade commercials. In most Gatorade commercials there are little to no women at all. This encourages us to want to make a commercial to show that everyone can be in a Gatorade no matter who you are or what you like. We want to be able show equality throughout different things in society, even through commercials. Throughout most of our lives we have been all played a sport or been involved in athletic activities. While playing sports we always look to Gatorade to fulfill our thirst quenching mouths. Gatorade is such an essential part of al of our lives.

In most Gatorade commercials we usually see people performing athletic activities. For example, activities like running, football, soccer, and cheerleading are usually idealized in these commercials. Mostly in Gatorade commercials there are different amounts of people who belong to a team or are performing individual sports. They are usually either warming up, exercising, or actually doing the sport. Towards the end of the commercial the product is displayed in an exaggerated way to catch the attention of the audience. The producers of the commercial usually portray this by having the athletic figures walk away and drink the Gatorade in a somewhat refreshing way. They also do this by placing the Gatorade in a focused area with the background as the athletic activity.

The company Gatorade uses sports because Gatorade is a sports drink directed at active people that want to “fuel” their bodies. These commercials usually convince their audience to want to get up and be active. That’s when their product comes in play. Whenever the audience decides to be more active or workout they will feel that they should pick up a Gatorade to drink in order to perform accurately. These commercials usually use score in their commercials. This consists of intense inspiring music that helps to inspire and engage the audience. Also common amount these commercials is tracking shots. These shots are used when the athletes are performing in the sport. Commonly used as well is a zoom. This is used to mostly zoom in on the drink and show a refreshing icy looking drink that makes the audiences mouths water. They also use this shot to zoom in on athletes drinking or holding the drink. Sometimes Gatorade companies use star athletes in their commercials. They do this to show watchers that professional athletes use this product and so should they.

Introductory

Hi there. My name is Nadia. Many people may classify me as outgoing or exquisite. I am the type of individual that tries to admire the good in people and loves to make other individuals smile. I typically try to focus and revolve my life around kindness, happiness, hard work, and dedication, forming that into what I visualize as success. A portion of my happiness, hard work, and dedication comes from playing soccer. I've played soccer since I was a toddler, continuing on all the way through high school. I've played for various teams and currently play for my high school, playing offence positions. I would consider it a passion of mine that I truly enjoy playing. When playing any sport for your current school, it is a requirement that you maintain a good GPA and good grades throughout the school year or else you will be ineligible to play, leading on to say that my grades are very important to me as I am very dedicated to the education provided to me.
When relating to my school and classes, I take my education very seriously. I have a total of 8 classes, consisting of 4 AICE classes and 2 Honors classes. My 8 classes consist of PRE AICE Spanish 2, Chemistry 1 Honors, AICE Global Perspectives, Algebra 2 Honors, AICE Media Studies, Study Hall, AICE English, and AICE European History. I make sure to balance out the amount of work I receive from my classes every day making my schedule more productive. I try to sustain good grades as I'm an A-B student, making my classes important to me. Even if I may not find school very amusing or fun as well as having dislikes about it, it is still something I will remain dedicated to.
When referring to my main likes and dislikes, I don't enjoy homework as it occupies a large portion of my time over the weekends. I already spend 5 school days working in school every week, so having to do work at home as well can result in lots of stress for me. I also dislike rude and mean people as they spread negativity to other people, potentially ruining other individuals day and causing anger or sadness amongst others. Last but not least, regarding my dislikes, I dislike the subject of history in school. Personally, I find a lot of it somewhat boring and it is challenging for my to remember specific things regarding history. Considering my likes, I love the ocean and all of its features. I find the ocean so beautiful as the life within is exquisite and unique. I love marine life as well as all of its natural colors it provides. Last but not least, I love animals and nature as it creates the most beautiful sights and experiences on our planet. Animals and nature create a sense of love and happiness in my heart that nothing will replace as it has created unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.
